Fire Protection in Oil and Gas

Tuesday 8 December 2009 and Wednesday 9 December 2009 Prices have been converted into GBP, Houston, USA

Crude oil production has increased over the past 5 months in the US, although global investment in oil and gas has been cut by US$100-million in 2009, so the pressure is on to produce absolutely efficiently and maintain safety standards within budget. Given the high hazard risk environment at an oil and gas plant, health and safety is one of the top issues for its workforce. According to statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, almost 100 people died during plant operations in both 2004 and 2005. So besides the high demand to increase production, oil and gas companies have to scrutinize and tighten their health and safety standards to prevent any safety hazard events from happening of on and offshore facilities. However, a number of challenges in this area remain specifically with regards to appropriate fire protection design and engineering, combining active and passive fire protection systems appropriately and emergency response. VIBevents’ Fire Protection in Oil and Gas Facilities being held on 8th and 9th December in Houston, Texas, aims to establish solutions to key issues such as: - Understanding National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) requirements and implementing these as well as your internal standards into your facilities - Exploring effective approaches to fireproofing in oil and gas plants and maximising fire resistance of your materials and plant structure - Optimizing functionality of a new or existing firewater system to maintain firewater availability to a maximum level in case of fire - Conducting emergency response trainings for managing fire hazard situations effectively to mitigate risk in terms of personnel and equipment loss Through case study driven presentations from leading oil and gas companies and a series of interactive roundtable discussions, this event will provide best practice solutions to help you comply with existing and upcoming challenges in the market.
